Prior to Your First Appointment:
Congratulations on completing the purchase of your beautiful, new
home! Now that you’ve selected your plan, construction options
and the papers are signed, your next step is to contact your Residential
Design Services Design Center for an appointment with a professional
designer who will assist you in selecting carpet, tile, natural
stone or wood flooring, countertops, window coverings and additional
option choices. Our designers are prepared to assist you with making
the best product choices for your home to not only create a distinctive
look, but to meet the needs of you and your family’s lifestyle.
To make your experience as rewarding and productive as possible,
please take a moment to review the following checklist:
- Previewing the Model helps familiarize yourself with
the traffic patterns and the flow of the home. Model products
are available
but may be exotic and may be prohibitive to the timeframe necessary
to complete your home. Your designer however, has the resources
to duplicate the materials if available and/or offer alternate
products.
- Feel free to wear comfortable clothing that allows
you to relax and move around the Design Center easily.
- You are welcome to bring any existing fabrics, cushions
or paint samples that you may have to help you and your designer
coordinate
your color scheme.
- Please call the Design Center number listed on the
enclosed Welcome Letter to set up an appointment. Our designers
are dedicated to
giving you 100% of their time and attention without interruptions,
and therefore work on an appointment basis only. Appointments
generally last two or three hours, depending on your floor plan,
and every
effort will be made to accommodate your personal schedule,
but for more choices in appointment times, please book your appointment
two to three weeks in advance. Depending on the number
of selections
to be made, two appointments are often necessary. Appointments
are often booked back to back, so every effort you can make to
be on
time will be appreciated by many.
- Although we welcome children we would encourage you
to make other arrangements so you can focus on important decisions
concerning
your new home. Making these significant and costly choices
demands your undivided attention. We find that fewer distractions
will make
your experience less stressful and more rewarding.
- Think about a realistic budget. Often upgrades can
be easily folded into the price of your home.
You may opt to consult with your Lender prior to your
appointment to confirm that additional
costs may be incorporated into your loan package.
- Please bring your checkbook for deposits on countertop
and option selections. Personal checks, VISA or Mastercard credit
cards will be accepted for flooring
and window covering selections. At the time of your selections,
a minimal deposit will be required to finalize your choices. This
will allow us to progress with
the ordering of your materials for the installation to proceed
in a timely manner.
- Window Coverings are often overlooked until the last
minute, yet these selections play a vital role in achieving your
completed home design and are functionally
necessary. Please ask your designer about the RDS window packages
available.
- Most importantly, come prepared to have fun and enjoy
the exciting experience of working with your designer to create
your dream home! Our design experts
are eager to assist you!
Sincerely,
The RDS Design Team
